The concert begins with a show of medieval Spain, musical themes immerse the listener in simple peasant life.You can feel the majestic nature and the spirit of Gothic antiquity. Proud Spanish motifs are clearly heard, and sudden musical crescendos emphasize the musical emotionality. The main theme is imbued with Spanish flavor. In it, I tried to synthesize the essence of medieval Spain. Of course, as a reference, we can say about the collapse of the monarchy of Charles 5, about Phillippe 2m, his son, about the annexation of Portugal at the end of the 16th century, about the desire for the triumph of Catholicism, about the Inquisition and the defeat of Spain by the English at sea, but I think that this is not the goal, but a means for the composer to better understand and describe the atmosphere in which the clever Hidalgo lived. In General, I must admit that the entire concert grew out of a single musical song, namely, FA_FA#_SOL_MI_DO. If you listen carefully, this phrase is present in different parts, then the whole, then in a mirror image, then presented in development, then on the contrary, only two sounds. For some reason, it seemed to me the most universal both for a concert and for the Spanish flavor. Further in the music there is a gradual exposition of the themes of images. They intertwine in a dialogue, argue with each other. But don Quixote always finds a solution and does the right thing. Of course, there is a lot of grotesque and humor in the music, because sometimes, over a glass of wine with his squire Sancho Panza, don Quixote pours out his soul to him and tells him his dreams, dreams and desires. Don Quixote's experiences are a special theme based on seconds ' intonation. I wanted to show the special tender sympathy of the main character and intolerance to the manifestations of humiliation, greed and anger. In General, don Quixote seemed to me a deeply sensual and sentimental person, sometimes he flies away in dreams behind the clouds and there allows himself to give vent to his feelings. But on the land of Spain, he is an ardent defender of ordinary people and a good conversationalist. He sees a lot of injustice and cruelty and tries to help people with all his not young forces. According to the canons of the romance of chivalry, our hero has a horse, and armor, and a squire, and a lady of the heart. Based on these canons, don Quixote builds his actions. Of course, he doesn't manage everything the way he wants. A lot of comicality in his actions, as well as dreaminess, even to some exaltation, allowed the concert to use together some stylistic combinations, such as Scriabin's expression or Rachmaninoff's crescendos. The music is simple and clear in terms of symphonism, since this is a Concerto for piano and orchestra. The bright ending of the first part bravura summarizes the voluminous narrative. I paid special attention to the topic of Dulcinea. This lady of the heart is his star and ideal. The second part is devoted to dreamy communication with her. The theme gradually, step by step, rises up and rewards itself by fixing in the tonic. Dulcinea appears as a beautiful unearthly creature, illuminated by lilac color, Rocinante turns into a Golden unicorn. Sancho Panza is a reliable and wise friend. Our hero himself takes on epic, but extremely satirical features. That is, everything is presented in an ideal form, but a little grotesque. After all, this is his dream... in which there are only victories and love, but which gradually disappears with the sunrise. In the third part, there is a lot of action, emotions and struggle. In the main theme, I wanted to show the main essence of the hero, his faith and courage. As well as the good steed Rossinant. In small moments of calm and reflection, you can hear what the main character is thinking and sympathize with him a little and feel a mania for his sentimentality and simplicity. What you feel, I will not describe. This is your fantasy! After all, music is not a program, but feelings! I can only say that everything will end with success and victory over the mills! In General, it turned out to be a little Gothic, a little classical and a little impressionist concert. I was very inspired by Cervantes ' novel. Of course, I didn't try to follow the book and its many characters correctly. I did not set out to focus on Kitri and Basilio, as in the ballet.
